We review recent our results in the fundamental study of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) with emphasis on experiments that attempted to identify the enhancement and blinking mechanism using single Ag nanoparticle dimers attached to dye molecules. These results are quantitatively discussed in the framework of electromagnetic mechanism. Structural changes in poly(L -alanine)(PLA), a model compound related to tussah silk fibroin, induced by heat treatment have been studied by differential thermal analysis, x-ray diffraction, and infrared spectroscopy. PLA heated below 300°C shows x-ray patterns very similar to those of the α-helix crystalline phase, in addition to the diffraction patterns due to the β structure. Samples heated at 368°C exhibit predominantly the diffraction patterns due to the β crystalline phase. From infrared spectra, PLA samples heated below 280°C are found to be composed of all three molecular conformations: β sheet, random coil, and α helix. The intensity of the infrared absorption at 650 cm?1 (amide V) assigned to the random coil conformation is decreased by heat treatment above 325°C. The content of the β-sheet structure remains almost constant when the specimen is heated below 325°C, and increases abruptly on heating to around 335°C, while the random coil content is decreased abruptly by heat treatment above 335°C. The α-helix content does not change, regardless of heat treatment. It is suggested therefore that the random coil conformation of PLA transforms directly into the β sheet on heat treatment above 335°C. 相似文献

We have been studying the practical CO2-laser-induced13C separation by a two-stage IRMPD process. The IRMPD of natural CHClF2 in the presence of Br2 mainly produced CBr2F2, which was found to be highly enriched with13C. The yield and13C-atom fraction of CBr2F2 were examined as functions of pulse number, laser line, laser fluence, total pressure, and Br2 pressure using a CO2 TEA laser with an output less than 1 J pulse–1 in order to optimize experimental conditions for13C separation. For example, we obtained CBr2F2 at a13C concentration of 55% in the irradiation of the mixture of 100-Torr CHClF2 and 10-Torr Br2 with the laser radiation at a wavenumber of 1045.02 cm–1 and at a fluence of 3.4 J cm–2. The mechanism for the IRMPD is discussed on the basis of observed results. Using 8-J pulses, we were able to obtain 1.9×10–4 g of13C-enriched CBr2F2 (13C-atom fraction, 47%) per pulse under selected conditions. It is possible to produce 90% or higher13C by the second-stage IRMPD of the CBr2F2 in the presence of oxygen. 相似文献

Polypeptide membranes with several lengths of spacers [? (CH2)n? ; n = 3, 6, 12] between the polymer matrix and viologen moiety as a functional group were prepared. We have developed a method named ‘fragment interaction analysis based on local MP2’ (abbreviated as FILM). This method enables us to decompose the interaction energy associated with dispersion interactions into contributions of localized occupied orbitals. In this study, the basis set dependence of the results derived from FILM was examined. The results suggested that the individual ratio of pair correlation energies of selected orbital pairs to the total dispersion interaction was almost independent of the basis set size. It was found that a beta-fructofuranosidase produced by Microbacterium sp. H-1 has potent trans-beta-fructofuranosylation activity from sucrose (donor). By means of this enzyme system, rebaudioside A (RA), the second major sweet steviol glycoside of the leaves of Stevia rebaudiana, was subjected to transfructosylation, affording a mono-beta-fructofuranosylated product (RA-F) in a high yield. The structure of RA-F was elucidated as beta-D-fructofuranosyl-(2----6)-beta-D-glucopyranosyl ester of steviol-13-O-[beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1----2)]- [beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1----3)]-beta-D-glucopyranoside.
